Jupiter's Breathtaking Southern Hemisphere

Experience Jupiter's southern hemisphere in wonderful detail in this new image from NASA's Juno spacecraft. The image shows one of the white ovals in the "String of Pearls" — one of eight massive rotating storms at 40 degrees south latitude of the gas giant planet.

The image was captured as Juno performed its ninth close flyby of Jupiter, at 33,115 kilometres from the planet's cloud tops.
